Berkner who was born n 1905 in Milwaukee, WI. had a mysterious career that started in his teens as a radio genius. He would go on to travel to Antarctica with the legendary Admiral Richard Byrd from 1928 to 1930 to set up radio communications in Little America in the most remote part of the globe. Byrd would in fact name Berner Island after him and maintain a lifelong friendship. DJ traces Berkner;s X-Tech career through the Brookhaven Nuclear Labs to Particle Accelerators later used at CERN.
